Kingswood Overstrand June 2017
They’re all back safe and sound having had a fantastic time and all regaling stories of their quest to sunny Norfolk. We’re all delighted they had a good time. These trips and their memories stay with you for life.

This year’s Dragon’s Den was, once again, a fantastic success. The pupils had clearly worked very hard indeed to create their new product ideas, their presentations and be ready for the tough questions from this year’s Dragons.
Competition this time around was SO fierce that the Dragon’s couldn’t separate them and we had, for the very first time, joint winners.
The two year groups who shared the first prize were (in no particular order)…
Years 3 with THE BOTTLE HEAD
A multi-purpose storage container made from recycled bottles
and Year 4 with SUPER SWEET BADGES
Badges made from recycled sweet wrappers
In in third place was…
Year 2 with THE SLIDEBOARD
A handy and easy-to-store dry wipe boards, pens and boards rubbers
Well done to all the pupils who put in such an amazing amount of effort.
This week our parents came into the school to join their children with a special curriculum morning. There were all kinds of activities for the parents and children to do together.

Here are the photos of our year 2 and 3 children enjoying their (rainy) trip to Beaumanor Hall. And now they’re all back safe and sound, and a little bit tired !!
The highly talented artist, Colin Slater, painted our Champions Mural at the end of 2015. We’re all still very taken back by it. The images of these real life heroes of modern history have really captured the imagination of our pupils and families. Colin has also created a video for you to see (below).
Feel free to have a look at more of Colin’s fantastic art work at http://www.colinslater-artist.co.uk/
The fantastic response to the staff video parody of “Happy” was something quite amazing. It was probably the surprise on the audience’s faces as the music changed from The Archers theme tune and became Mrs Blockley jiggling to a popular track like Pharrell William’s Happy that got everybody’s attention.
We all thoroughly enjoyed making the video (despite a few moments of stage fright) and the end result was much better than we could have hoped for. Most importantly, everybody enjoyed watching it.
A massive thank you to Mrs Spooner and Mr Penton for making the video idea into a reality. We have to wonder what they might come up with next year???
