We are incredibly proud to have been selected by the Department for Education (DfE) as a Lead School within the RISE Reception Networks programme for the East Midlands region, with a particular focus on Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. 

Purpose of the RISE Reception Networks Programme 

Reception Networks form part of the government’s Best Start in Life strategy and the Regional Improvement for Standards and Excellence (RISE) universal offer. Their aim is to support schools in improving the quality of Reception-year provision and to contribute towards the national target of 75% of children achieving a Good Level of Development by 2028. 

These networks are school-led and locally delivered, with a strong focus on sharing effective, evidence-informed Reception practice. 

Each network is led by a Reception Network Lead School. Lead schools demonstrate sustained strengths in early years provision and leadership, and work to support other schools within their local area. 

Our Role as a Lead School 

As a Reception Network Lead School, we act as a regional centre of expertise for Reception provision. Our responsibilities include: 

  • Providing regular opportunities for professional dialogue through half-termly virtual network meetings  
  • Hosting visits and open days, enabling staff to observe high-quality Reception provision in practice  
  • Sharing resources, strategies and approaches that support effective teaching and leadership in the early years  
  • Working in partnership with national hubs (such as Family Hubs, English Hubs and Maths Hubs) to promote consistency and high standards across early years services
